What is the purpose of Gwinnett Hall Baptist College? What is the purpose of continuing education? When are our educational responsibilities fulfilled? And where do I fit in? These are the questions that present themselves as we approach a new school year.
Let us first identify the purpose of our college. I believe it is our purpose to offer a quality, biblical education to men and women of all ages, from all backgrounds and in all types of ministries, with the intent of producing workers for the field.
Next, what is the purpose of continuing education? And, when are our educational responsibilities fulfilled? It has nothing to do with the degree being earned or the paper that hangs on the wall. It is not how fast you can complete your education but rather how complete your education makes you. A wise man once told me that Bible College was like unto a river. If you dam it up you would be overwhelmed, but if you knelt beside it you could get what you needed as you needed it. It is my belief that our education should continue until the Lord takes us home. Some of that education must happen in a classroom with experienced, God called professors to lead you in your learning. Continuing education is about making you a better disciple for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Finally, where do I fit in? This is a personal question that requires a personal answer. For me, I understand that God has chosen this college to grow me as a servant. As Dean, I intend to serve both the faculty and the student body by making this college all that I believe it can be for the glory and honor of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
